Step 5: Create Your Squeeze Page

The purpose of your squeeze page is to promote your free report and collect the visitor’s email address. It’s called a “squeeze page” because there is only one course of action they can take on the page.

An effective squeeze page should contain a high-impact headline, a list of benefits they will receive from reading the report, and a strong call to action above your opt-in box.

If your squeeze page looks professional, you will get more signups. And more signups means more money. Click here to get your own professionally designed squeeze page just like the one above.

Adding Your Subscription Form

If you already know how to use an HTML editor and upload a web page, this step will be easy for you. But if you’re a complete newbie like I was, you’ll need to get some software to make the process easier -- you don't want to code HTML by hand.

First, you need WYSIWYG “What You See Is What You Get” HTML editor. I use Microsoft FrontPage.

Next, you’ll need to generate the HTML code for a subscription box at your auto-responder service. I recommend with Aweber or GetResponse. You simply open the squeeze page in the editor copy and paste the code into the document.

Upload Your Squeeze Page

For this step, you'll need an FTP program and the login information from your hosting account. I use SmartFTP. It’s free to download.

Once you install the software, follow these instructions to log in to your server:

• Enter your IP address or domain name in the Address bar

• Enter your FTP Userid and Password (get those from your host)

• Click the green button

SmartFTP integrates seamlessly with Windows. You can drag and drop files or entire folders from any application. You can even unzip folders if you have Windows XP or 2000.

Note: SmartFTP has extensive tutorials that show you this process in detail.

After you transfer your files to your host, you just need to type your domain name into your web browser and test the squeeze page.
